ABOUT
Kern Lawn and Landscape is a family owned and operated business based in Saint Paul.
Kern Lawn and Landscape was born in the Merriam Park neighborhood of Saint Paul where all five of the Kern Brothers mowed lawns and attended St. Mark’s Catholic School and St. Thomas High School. Jerome “Pappy” Kern raised his five sons with an industrial, hands-on manner, and passed down his mechanical knowledge and indefatigable work ethic to his sons, steeping them in a blue collar education where they earned their pay and calluses the hard way. In 1984, Pappy Kern planted the first seed of the Kern Lawn and Landscape business when he bought his oldest son a small lawn mower. From that single lawn mower, the roots of the business have grown for decades. Today, Kern Lawn and Landscape is one of the most respected and knowledgeable lawn care and landscape companies in the Twin Cities. Over the years, the Kern Lawn and Landscape has changed hands between the older Kern brothers and is now owned and operated by John Kern and Peter Kern, two working folk heroes who both live and raise their families in the Mac Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul. With more than thirty years of experience, Kern Lawn and Landscape continues to have the local expertise, resources, reputation, and capabilities to handle every facet of lawn care and landscaping. Pappy Kern is still involved, too, sharpening the Kern lawn mower blades and sprinkling his seeds of wisdom to his sons and all of the Kern employees and our valued customers.
